The first 100 pages or so I found to be pretty slow, but after that I really got sucked in, reading all night, waking up and finishing it.
This book gives a very real look into the life of a teenaged black girl in America. You can really see her perspective on things, you can feel her fear, you can experience her anger and grief. It's a perspective you don't see much.

As someone who gets easily bored by reading books that do not have any magic in them, i have to say that this book is amazing. I did not get bored once and I love the development Starr had throughout the book. Five stars, definitely recommend.
