Carl Sagan was my hero when I was a teenager. This book had a huge influence on me then. I still think it is a great book. It presented some really interesting ideas but, wow, Sagan was very worried about nuclear weapons! I suppose we should all be worried about the ultimate fate of our world. I just don't see nuclear war as an absolute inevitability. Interesting though was the idea that as the population increases the scientific progress decreases. One of the random or perhaps not so random memories that I have as a child is watching glimpses of parts from Carl Sagan’s television Cosmos. Along with science fiction films, and other shows, I watched enough of the Cosmos to get my attention regarding, well, the cosmos and the greater world and universe that exists around us.
