I saw both of these authors interviewed on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and I thought it sounded interesting enough to give it a read. As it turns out this was an excellent introduction to dissonance theory and I'm glad I read it just so I can be aware of self-justification and self-deception in my own life. I have to admit when I was reading this I had trouble finding examples in my own life but had no trouble spotting dissonance in other peoples lives around me, which is probably a good exa ...more

A crucial read that explores cognitive dissonance in depth. The main focus of the book is exploring how individual people and institutions in power justify and perpetuate wrong decisions.
