Fantastic mix of cool facts about trees (and plants in general) with a story of how, as so often it seems to happen, genius and illness share space in the same brain. Very recommended.

One wouldn’t expect a Botanist’s memoir to be an exciting read but this was. There were some long winded, philosophical parts but the interesting science facts and unexpected life stories made up for that.

This one got a bit boring in places, especially when Jahren started going into prose that was a bit too emo-poetry for my tastes. Interesting to hear her life story, though, and all the anxiety she ploughed through to get to where she was by the time she wrote the book.
