MADELINE MILLER YOU BITCH I DIDNT ASK FOR MY HEART TO BE BROKEN SO SEVERELY
Edit:
I reread this to get out a slump, and once again, is this book truly one of the most beautifully written things I’ve ever read. Give it a chance. It’s worth it :)

This book was okay. To start, I'd like to say that I adored the writing style and the narration of the audiobook was lovely! As someone who doesn't know much about Greek mythology, I found it easy to understand, which I appreciate. But I'm kind of disappointed with how underwhelmed I feel. It wasn't bad, it just didn't click with me? I think what made it more difficult for me to want to love this book was the fact that it was more fast-paced than I would have liked and that I sensed little chemi

The Song of Achilles is a standalone by Madeline Miller, which explores the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus. It is a retelling of the Greek hero Achilles’s story and the part he played in the Trojan War. The story takes place from Patroclus, Achilles’s lover’s point of view. Set in Ancient Greece, this story explores love, life and loss is an intricate way. The book begins with Patroclus’s birth and concludes wit ...more

I came here for a cry after hearing all the amazing reviews of it and even though I'm a realllly easy crier I didn't cry, but it was still a good book though. It's slow in the middle but it has some nice quotes and since I love Greek stories, I enjoyed this retelling.
A problem I had with this was that we only saw Achilles through Patrocolus's character and not Patroculus through any other character's perspective so it felt like Patroculus's only trait was loving Achilles. ...more

A book that has been overhyped.
I went to read this book blinded by the hype that Booktok and bookstagram gives it. I know that it is greek mythology and I was there for it. Hell I was up for some mythology and retellings.
But I don't think that this was for me.
I like Madeline Miller's writing. It's good but in my opinion it was not that... im thinking of the word....
I guess intriguing.

"The voices of the dead were said to have the power to make the living mad."
I picked up this book expecting it to be a story narrated by Achilles himself. But when I dived into it, it was narrated by a rather unexpected character, Patroclus.
Trojan war is considered to be one of the most greatest war in the Greek mythology to have taken place in the Bronze Age. It portrays valour, greed, vanity, betrayal, and bloodshed.

(It's been a while since I read this so my review will be a little wonky)
I finally read this hyped book and I will just say this: it was hyped for a good reason.
The entire story is just so tragic and so beautiful and romantic. I love that Miller was able to keep her retelling of the story through Patrocolus' view faithful to the original. It's honestly so interesting how she was able to write this story through the eyes of someone that isn't talked about much in the legends. The characters are ...more
