I tremendously appreciate Gay's frank, raw and vulnerable writing. The amount of courage it must have taken her to be so vulnerably honest for a global audience is admirable. This book made me sad. It also made me think. And it taught me new things, and it reassured me that it's not just me who sometimes has no control over their lives. That being "miserable" is very human. That humans have vulnerabilities and woes. It was so refreshing and realistic to see a book that doesn't offer a "happy end

کتاب "گرسنگی؛ سرگذشت بدن (من)" رو راکسان گی در سال ۲۰۱۷ راجع به خودش و زندگیش به عنوان یک زن سیاهپوست (اهل هائیتی) و دوجنسگرا که دارای چاقی مفرط هست مینویسه و در اون به طور خاص دربارهی بدنش حرف میزنه. کتاب نثر خیلی روونی داره، زبانش به نسبت ساده است و سطح انگلیسیش کاملا قابلفهمه و جون میده برای شروع خوندن به انگلیسی. به فارسی هم ترجمه شده ( دو تا ترجمه) ولی اولا من یه بخشهاییش رو خوندم و به نظرم لحن دوستانه و دلنشین کتاب اصلا در نیومده بود و دوم اینکه مطمئن نیستم چقدر سانسور شده. مثلا یک ف ...more

This book was way more impressive than I imagined. Roxane Gay talks about the cause and effects of her "unruly body" (as she describes it) in a courageously honest memoir.
