Thoughts: Funny, Cute, awesome, amazing and definitely a favorite!

First off, I would just like to say that Rick Riordan knows how to make characters! I absolutely fell in love with these funny yet kick-butt characters! The way they are described gave me a perfect image of what they look like, act like, and even sound like! I saw that we had this in our Audible library and since I was waiting for Words of Radiance to come out, I thought I burn through this one.
It was more middle grade than I expected. Maybe it's pre-middle grade. I didn't look that closely. If it was, that would explain the level of word usage. I'm afraid I expect Harry Potter when I start something middle grade now, and this was written at an elementary level.

This is a really great series. It's funny and addicting. I really enjoyed reading this series because it was a really light, happy read, even in the parts when things go wrong.
