Using the word 'fuck' in rapid succession ad nauseam does not make you cool. I felt so bored and annoyed listening to the word 'fuck' being screamed at me when the POV shifted to a certain character. Dear Scalzi, take a look at Avasarala for a cool way in saying 'fuck'.

Größtenteils ziemlich gute Space Opera, die mir nur manchmal etwas over the top war (was sich vor allem an Formulierungen wie: ""Verpissen Sie sich alle!" Alle verpissten sich" lag) und der fast schon zwanghaften Sexualität mancher Personen fest macht.

Scalzi's books are always fun, and this is no exception. I enjoyed the snappy dialogue and complicated politics. There are also lots of badass women in this book, who also experience very normal things like period cramps in the middle of an important ceremony, because OF COURSE that's how it always seems to go in real life. It's certainly rare for a man to pay attention to details like that, so I laughed in delight when that little incident popped up on the page.

A fun romp in a new universe. The premise is interesting and the prologue hooks you for sure. Still, this one didn't wow me like some others. For one, the excessive profanity turned me off. And I'm left feeling resentful of cliff-hanger endings. I'll have to dredge up the political details from my memory in another year or so because nevertheless I'm curious enough to come back for the sequel.
