I'd forgotten how perfect the ending of this is. (view spoiler) Again, I am just completely enchanted by Wilson's use of language, and the way he switches between different voices in the narrative.

Gorgeous, poetic, immersive writing on every single page. I went in knowing nothing and was blown away. This fantasy novella was an amazing intro to Kai Ashante Wilson’s work (even though this is technically a sequel, it worked perfectly fine as a standalone). I can’t wait to go back and read book one and everything else Wilson has written. Indeed, his lexicon is a taste of honey.
