What Members Thought
I was so close to giving this four stars. Not because I didn’t love it, but because it felt slow at first—like trudging through snowdrifts, every step deliberate and heavy. But now, having finished it, devastated and emotionally wrung out, I realize that was the whole point. That slow build was necessary, because by the time the story unfurled into something truly staggering, I was invested—and then it wrecked me.

It was interesting, but was ultimately let down by the ending. I feel like this was building up to something, but that something fell pretty flat at the end. Maybe this book went right over my head, but I just didn't get out of it what maybe I was meant to get out of it.
