I could just cry while typing that quote out from the amazing City of Heavenly Fire. This is the sixth and final installment of The Mortal Instruments series. Written by the same author, The Infernal Devices was a very successful trilogy and I will say likewise to this series that was completed on the 27th of May.

I got this book off the shelf in my local bookstore on the 3rd of June, a few days after its release and was ready to explode in happiness later on at home when I opened the glorious book for the first time. I was absorbed into the book quickly but unfortunately I had camp the day after so I could only continue on the 7th of June, which was utterly worth it because of the story line that greeted me when I continued on. You see, it has been quite long since I finished the fifth installment of this saga and my memory is not very good. However, Cassandra Clare, being the great writer that she was actually managed to remind me of the events that happened in the previous book with just that few paragraphs which also flows well with the entire plot for the last book. This book, had twists and turns that reminds me of The House of Hades and the Clockwork Princess. It was as though the two had mixed together, combined and mushed up to become this fantastic book. The deaths of some characters were inevitable though but it wasn't that much to cause a super impact on my heart because the way Clare dealt with writing their deaths was beautiful yet deadly and I absolutely loved it.

The action in this book is just all the previous books combined into one and the romance did not lose out as well. If you picked up a book, the last one especially of the particular series, you might think that the author had to squeeze every bit of information in there and there is no time for romance which is sometimes, true. However, it is fantastically different for this book. It is one of the few YA books that has a perfect story line spread across the 700 odd pages. I have never been bored at all in any moments of this book and at the end, especially, when some characters from the other series came back, it just sums it all up. The book is basically a present wrapped up so perfectly, there is almost no flaws.

But! I have to say this but The Clockwork Princess was a better written last book than The City of Heavenly fire. However, just by a bit. It cannot be expressed by words but I love this book. I love how every word seems to have a meaning and the new characters introduced. I loved every single bit of this story. It is truly a book meant to last for centuries and centuries, to accompany people like Magnus Bane and Theresa Gray. Oops sorry, not people. Downworlders. ...more
