Like, do I wish this went a little more in depth with their thematic artistry (e.g. inspiration from Herman Hesse, The Little Prince, the Jungian philosophy, Doty’s neuroscientific records, etc)? Of course. Would I have loved something a little more raw and personal? Absolutely!

One can expect what’s coming. I am starting this on the 15 hopefully I can finish tonight..

The first thing is that I’m army, 100% and in this bangtan shit forever. I never said this and the only time I did was recently on goodreads but I’m excited for my life to happen thanks to bts. As cliché as it can sound, they really brought so much light and joy to my daily life that it makes me excited for more.

As cliché as it can sound, they really brought so much light and joy to my daily life that it makes me excited for more.

I am not an old army of 2018 or 2016 and though I encountered them through my best friend in 2018, I never cared. And in 2021, well I fell hard🤣 damn they got me right into it and right into kpop and all things that start with k for real. I’m celebrating my 2 years with bts in 5 days🥹🥹 I’m so grateful as a human being to be alive at the same time as them.

On the book of course, since we’re here for that. I’m speechless. And at the same time I want to scream and shout at the top of my lungs every possible things that are building inside of me because of what they told us.

So firstly I feel like more people need to realise that this is NOT about fussing other groups, or trying to act as victims of the industry or idk what (twitter has been so creative I swear sometimes I hate people). This book, after reading it, really is about bts offering their story on a handmade plate to whomever wants to know a bit more than just the multi awarded korean boy band. And it shows by their choice of words, their expressions and how the chapters are build.

Their trainees days opened my eyes on how they really grew up in another world, how especially jungkook never had a proper childhood/teenage hood like we all did. And all the difficulties they went through as rookie rappers/idols. From there, reading about the hate and the ignorance of others towards them is unbearable. Bros were 15-20????? Bullying them in internet like they’re not human, the #breakwings is so mad. Like really eyes opening. And for everyone saying they’re victimising themselves and more bullshit. Fuck you😘 however much freedom internet offers, no one deserves to be bullied by millions of UNKNOWN people and other fandoms. Ignored BIG TIME by other idols because they had no friends and seemed meant to be forgotten. Well look at us now🤭

Many people if not the majority talked about chapter 3 and this heartbreaking hate. However, the hardest path for me was chapter 5. It starts with the mama speech of 2018 and explores this struggles they went through. And when they use struggles I think it’s not string enough. Jimin drinking alone in a VERY SMALL DARK room?? Suga loosing weight and loosing taste of life (this was the hardest)?? Jhope being lost and more. All members were broken, to the deepest part of themselves they were completely broken and yet they put smiles on, performances and public apparitions. I’ll never forget what I read in this chapter. They grew more and more and the more they were growing the more they were being crushed. Bts I love you.

Outro: tear. This song is my all time fav and I new what it meant before the book but reading about suga writing and composing it😃 I’ll never be the same. They went through so much and I’m honoured and surprised that they opened up like this to a world that beat them up this much.

And this shows how much they grew over the last 10 years. I think anyone who loves them, loved them or will love them can and will say they’re proud of bts whenever they are the day they say it. Because you cannot ignore them if ou encounter them. They care about each other like family and compose a family with army, a family I’m part of and proud to be part of.

My review makes no sense it’s just me crying over the lomls but what I would love people to know about this book is that, even if this seems like a gift more to army than for anyone else, even if you don’t stan bts, you can pick up this book and get a closer look at people who changed, saved, shaped and are still doing all this to this day the lives of millions.

This book is indeed a gift and bts deserve the best on this earth. I hope they one day start to take and not only give because they have been giving so much for so long and they’re still doing so. I’m so emotional fml I love them sm I’m so sad I already finished reading😭😭😭 I love them all so tenderly so deeply so much rip my heart I’m going to cry all night.

5 estrellas claro que si aunque podrían estar un poco biased pero la verdad es que lloré cómo siempre lo hago cuando escucho a los tannies hablar de su pasado y sus anécdotas, hay cosas que no se sabían como tal y esta fue una oportunidad para que ellos se abrieran libremente y dieran su versión, el escritor hizo un muy buen trabajo recopilando toda la información claramente y los traductores se lucieron (vi que solo tuvieron 1 mes para prepararlo) mis respetos.

Don't get me wrong, I was very excited for this book but it didn't live up to the hype. The writing style is very formal and hence quite boring. Meanwhile, the only parts I actually liked were the direct quotes from the members and the pictures. The book doesn't have much more to offer than isn't already known to older Armys and while the tidbits of info that we get from the members themselves was interesting, it wasn't enough to make me continue sloughing through the book. ...more
