I started this one a couple days ago & have already finished.
This isn't my typical genre, historical fiction, but I still enjoyed it. The story is told surrounding life in a west Texas town as War rages on.
This book kind of had it all, including evil town bosses, a pregnancy out of wedlock, lies, deception, & more.
I thought the world was well developed, but Virginia lacked a bit for me. And with multiple POV, I felt like it was a bit elaborate for my taste. In one instant your hearing from a ...more

French Letters Virginia’s war is a wartime story uniquely told. The experiences of the Second World War were not related from events on the battlefield, but rather through thoughts revealed and life lived in and around a Texas town square. Historical features illuminate a sense of President Roosevelt’s era. Anticipation was on high frequency for the arrival of Army V-Letters. A fact especially true for Virginia. Antics common to an everybody knows everybody small town were relatable. ...more
