What Members Thought
Excellent book. I have read other Maya Angelou books, and thought I had read this. When my new book club chose it to start off with, I realized that I hadn't read the whole book. I love memoir, history and discover other cultures, and so this book filled all three with the story of Angelou and her brother growing up in the Deep South, and dealing with segregation, family dysfunction, violence and rape, and also the saving graces of her loving grandmother who raised her to be a strong person.
