There are a lot of books out there on writing – and a lot of them aren’t very helpful at all – but Stephen King’s On Writing has been my favourite ever since I picked it up just over a year and a half ago.

It’s part memoir, and part writing tips, and it works a lot better than you’d think it would just from the description. Although, yes, I am yet to read any of King’s other works, it also works perfectly as an introduction to what his books are about, combined with his history and writing advice ...more
