The reason I read the book was that I wanted to understand why some of my students didn’t participate in class discussion despite my persistent encouragement. As an extraverted person, I read the book to understand those who are introverted. Susan is right that it’s hard to be an introverted in the American culture because the society appreciates and rewards those who are extraverted. This book speaks deep to my introverted soul on so many levels! Good book for introverts and a great one for extroverts in understanding the nature of introversion. I wish I had a book like this growing up to better understand myself.
