This is my first exposure to Williams who I had heard of for years but never bothered to explore her writing. It's a beautiful collection of personal memories fixed upon a framework of National Parks she has visited and keeps close to her heart. The writing is personal and not always about the particular park the chapter is named for (e.g. the Canyonlands chapter for example is a collection of letters she has written to both living and dead persons.
