Although it’s only February, I think it’s safe to say this book will be one of my favorites for this year. This novel is reaching its ninth birthday, yet the concept remains fresh and exciting. So glad I finally get the hype! Can’t wait to read the others!!

I’m not going to lie and deny that I didn’t pick this book because the tv show was coming out! I’ve bought all of Leigh Bardugo’s books a while back when it was on sale and just never read them, but now was the perfect time!
I was slightly worried because I heard this wasn’t her best work (I heard SoC was way better), but at the same time I was excited to read and see for myself. And honestly, I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I thought I did. I read this in 2 days but really ...more

I had this on my to do list for so long and finally read it. I have to it was a great book.
Some world set ups are too complicated and throw me in a spiral of too many words and maps that I hate. This on the other hand, was setup so beautifully and seamlessly transports us to the world of Alina.
I connected very well with Alina, probably because it was written in her perspective. But I didn't connect well with the male characters.
I would have loved to see more of Genya and Feydor. The twists woul ...more

I'd say this is a 3,5 stars for me. It had it's moments but at certain points I think the story lacked something and some things felt pretty rushed. I think I would have enjoyed this more though if I had read this when I was younger. But I'm reading the next parts too. And can't wait to get to Six of Crows, have heard it's much better!

I liked the book read it in a day. I was intrigued from the start and I came in not expecting too much form what I heard. I loved the story the small twists it kept me captivated. Definitely another great grisha read.
