Very timely read. Rarely does a book pull at my emotions like this one did. It made me question my own actions and thoughts. It will rank as one of my favorites.
Wow. Just. Wow. On all levels. T.H.U.G. invites the reader into a real world that is beautiful yet ugly-without judging the characters or reader. The author wrote a gripping story that helped me understand the web of poverty, crime, fear, shame, and racism and how it entangles an entire society. It’s also a story that calls the reader to stand up to bullies and haters even if it comes at a cost. I loved to hear Starr’s thoughts throughout the story.
