Wow. Just. Wow. On all levels. T.H.U.G. invites the reader into a real world that is beautiful yet ugly-without judging the characters or reader. The author wrote a gripping story that helped me understand the web of poverty, crime, fear, shame, and racism and how it entangles an entire society. With so many overlapping stories and such accurate realism and relevancy, The Hate U Give is honestly amazing. Starr Carter is a very real and very powerful character, and as the reader, one who's going to stick with me for a long time.

Breathtaking and heartbreaking. This is well well written and if you get the chance to listen to it on audible, the narrator is the best. Probably one of the first stories of its kind and definitely one to read if you're politically aware and/or support the BLM movement
