Wow. So glad I gave this book a chance. After not really enjoying Lost Apothecary because the plot wasn't what I had expected, this book exceeded all expectations. It was enthralling and suspenseful and I found myself holding my breath throughout. I'll definitely read more by Penner after this.

This book had a much slower start than her first book. The book ended well, but I almost gave up on it because it was such a slow start. Definitely enjoyed her first book more.

I won’t repeat the summary of the story that so many others have left here already but the part that kept me hooked was Lenna’s version of the story. The parts I couldn’t stand were Morley. It was good to see his place in the end
