Appeal Factors: human and animal bonds, road tripping, heartwarming, bittersweet.
This is a quick, charming read, narrated primarily from the perspective of the cat, Nana. I don't usually gravitate to books about or from the point of view of an animal or pet, but I enjoyed this one. Warning: It made me teary at the end.
If you're doing the reading challenge, this could count towards a road trip book or a book where humans are not the main characters!

An incredibly sweet story about making amends and saying goodbye. Because it was translated from Japanese, there were a few sections that didn't quite flow in English, but the bond between Satoru and Nana transcends language barriers.
As a crazy cat dad, it was refreshing to read a story that had a male character unabashed in his love of felines and not be judged by friends and family. Everyone accepted it as a part of who he is, and they all try to help him and Nana on their journey.

Probably one of my favorite books...I did not expect to love all the characters. Whether you love cats or need a reminder to what's important in life, I would definitely recommend this book.
