I found for majority of the book that the main character was pretty unlikeable in the worst possible way. Following his story of selfishness and indulgent behavior was only half enjoyable. However, the ending really brought it all home for me. The last 10 or so pages finally brought everything together. A true testament to the fact that someone (no matter how much you may not prefer them) can mean the world to someone else.
