This book was absolutely nothing like I expected it to be, but in a good way. I think what I liked best about the book was it was scary, but the scariest parts, the parts that made me feel anxious, had nothing to do with the vampire.

This is my second Grady Hendrix book and he definitely has a unique style and grotesque humor. These ladies are over the top. Rather than sexism, it's just kitschy humor. At least until it gets bloody and gory. Like he says in the introduction, this story is what it looks like when you pit Dracula against a bunch of moms who will do whatever it takes for their families while attempting to keep up every appearance of propriety, even against their better judgement. One of the very few books that actually had me guessing about the ending. At more than one time I gave an audible gasp. Great contrast between a humorous way of talking about domestic life in the 90s and true honest gore and blood and guts.
