What Members Thought
This book did not live up to the hype. It was "okay." I felt the story dragged. I wouldn't have chosen to read if it wasn't picked for my book club. Kya and Tate were the only likeable characters in the book, and even then it couldn't save the story for me.

Abandonment, loneliness, ostracism . . . resilience, connections with nature, learning to interact with people, more abandonment, more resilience. Enjoyed the story and the writing.
I only read this because so many friends have read it and said it was amazing. Whoa...I couldn't wait to learn whodunnit, so it was very hard to put down. I was surprised at the ending, but not really. I got really emotionally attached to Kya, the main character, so I breathe a sigh of relief as I now finally know what really happened.

I feel like I may have enjoyed this more if I had slowed down to soak it in. I listened to this story on audiobook all in one day. I'm glad I finally got around to this one and am excited to see the movie adaptation.
