There's a fairy tale quality that permeates "Crawdads" from the misunderstood heroine deeply connected with nature, the villainous townspeople and the prince that ultimate captures her heart. This lead to a hefty amount of déjà vu, even before the last third turns into "To Kill a Mockingbird."
