What Members Thought

Wow. While parts of this book definitely read like Charles Dickens was paid by the word (which he was), overall, I really enjoyed this book. I was really invested in Copperfield's life. The side characters were so well fleshed out, and they just jumped from the page. I laughed, I cried, I swooned. Pretty sure David and Agnes are in my top five literary couples. I'm really glad I decided to read it, and to stick with it even when I felt like it went on forever.

What a magnificent novel. I read this when I was very young with little understanding or remembrance of it. It is no surprise to me that it has lasted for so long when what was published a year ago has mostly faded into obscurity. Reading “David Copperfield” was a wonderful relief from social media and 250-page “novels” written for Tik-Tokers. I can hardly wait to read more of Dickens’s novels.
