A challenging, get-lost-in read that requires the ability to trust the author and to then simply enjoy the ride.

Morgenstern is a master at metaphor, phrasing, building suspense, and tying stories together but you'll be disappointed if you try to read it in short snippets or if you can't fully enter the fantasy world she's created. Really beautiful descriptive writing. I wanted to like it so much. Especially since I remember liking the night circus a lot when I read it years ago. However, even after sticking with it for nearly 500 pages, it still really didn't come together for me. ...more
