What Members Thought
I started reading and thought “Ha, this sounds like it could be my people.” I grew up in Opelousas,LA. My mother’s family is from Mallet (a hamlet which I’m guessing may be the basis for Mallard). Interesting book that opens a window on a life that few would recognize. I would also suggest reading One Drop by Bliss Broyard about her experience finding her father’s, journalist Anatole Broyard, family in Louisiana.
