I'm of an age with the author, coincidentally* also the age of James Halliday whose contest drives this book's story. I grew up watching Family Ties; Black Tiger was my favorite arcade game at one point; I used to wake up at 6am and watch some anime show that aired when I was seven years old. I've always been interested in Dungeons & Dragons even though I never actually played it until adulthood. And, I am the most uncool person I know. I should be the perfect audience for this book.
