iris’s brother left to serve in the war months ago, and iris has not heard anything back since. she spends her days at the paper, where she tries to win a promotion over her rival, roman. at night, she types up letters to her missing brother that he’ll never see…but when those letters start disappearing, and letters by someone else start magically appearing, it’s clear that someone does.

i always love letter-writing aspects in books so i was interested to see how this would pla

“And I shouldn’t hope. I shouldn’t try to send this. I don’t even know your name.
But I think there is a magical link between you and me. A bond that not even distance can break.”

1 Sentence Summary: Iris Winnow hasn’t heard from her brother since he enlisted in the war; she doesn’t know where he is, if he’s okay, or if he’s even alive, but she writes him letters every day and despite having nowhere to send them, slips them into her wardrobe, where inexplicably they always disappear;

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book has been getting a lot of hype lately, and I’m glad I picked it up.

Not only was it a romantasy, but it was easy to read and follow with a unique plot. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book!

This is a sort of pen pal romance, and I always enjoy those! Iris writes letters to her brother in the war, and they always go unanswered; until one day she gets a response. She starts writing letters back and forth with this ind

This is an amazingly beautiful book 🫶

When I started this book I went in totally blind and I couldn’t help but fall deeply in love with the characters, the plot and the writing - she wrote this book for people who want their soul barred and their heart to bleed.

I felt so deeply for these characters and what they were going through - the bravery in this book was just wow

Please do yourself a favor and read this book!

I’m not a big fan of YA romance but this one made me sob!

In „Divine Rivals“ by Rebecca Ross we follow Iris and Kit in a dual perspective historical fantasy romance. The world is reminiscent of a world war setting except the forces at play are ancient gods. They start out as rivals at a local newspaper and accidentally begin communicating secretly via magical letters.

This reminded me so much of the movie „You’ve Got Mail“ with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks accept with a much darker tone. The world bui

usually when i have a problem with the length of a book its when it is way too long and there was a ton of stuff that could have been cut out or was way over-explained but i felt like this was the opposite! I loved Iris but would have loved to know more about her character. And i also really liked Iris and Roman, but they fell in love wayyyy too fast. They couldve been sm better if everything didnt happen so quickly. i loved the premise and loved pretty much everything, i just think most everyth ...more
