I don't usually read Horror books but had heard good reviews on this book and thought I would give it a try. I have to say I wasn't disappointed I couldn't put it down. Would have finished it in one sitting if I hadn't started it so late in the day. I don't know what to say about Michael. Is he at fault for the family he is with yes I believe so but as a four year old abducted from his family and raised by psychotic human beings how is he supposed to act. For some reason, I couldn't really connect with this book. There was plenty of gruesome horror, but somehow it just didn't impact as much as other horror stories I've read. I can't really pin down what it was about this that didn't work for me. Somehow, I didn't end up feeling very connected to these characters and the horror just sort of washed over me instead of affecting my emotions.
