This was really sweet! The love Olia had for her family (+ for her baby sister in particular) was really lovely to read, and I'd be happy to give this to any of the children in my life. Great messages about family, friendship, courage, the importance of people over material items, etc.
Unfortunately, however, I think the book might be too long for the plot, especially if it's trying to capture the attention of young readers. ...more

I wanted to like this quite a bit more than I ended up but the protagonist annoyed me at times a little too much, tho maybe Morrigan Crow & Co got my expectations up a bit too high when it comes to middle grade heroes actually listening to answers to questions they asked themselves, who's to say.🤷
I absolutely enjoyed all the folklore and the talking cat, tho, so the annoying factor was kept relatively low ✨💫 ...more

I will refrain from rating The Castle of Tangled Magic because I feel that it deserves a higher rating than I’m thinking of giving it.
I recognise Sophie Anderson’s talent and skill. She’s amazing at creating an atmosphere.
I started out really excited. However, as the story progressed I found myself growing less and less interested in the story. At the end, I just kept on skimming until I finished the book.
