Some of the best reads are the ones you didn't expect to like and end up really enjoying. This was that book for me.
I am not a chick-lit kind of reader, and Mary Kay Andrews was not on my radar before this. So when I picked this up for a book club, my expectations weren't high.

I really liked this book. I immediately connected to the main character Sarah "Conley" Hawkins from the opening scene. I, too, ducked out of my going away party because I don't like that kind of attention. But the connection goes deeper. I grew up as the 4th generation in a small-town newspaper family.
