It's hard to categorize this book. It's literary fiction. Some parts are magical realism with spirits and ghosts and such. Some parts are realistic fiction because they contain real events and many of the situations that aren't real could have happened. It tells about the main character's life through several seasons. She has some wild times and some settled times. She's Native American. Some parts relate to that part of her and some parts to just the human condition. It's so interesting because
