Erdrich has a deft hand at telling the story of a people through the story of a family and community. Based on her grandfather's story of standing up to Congress when they were trying to take away the treaty rights of Native Americans. Compelling on so many levels! Erdrich is always excellent at telling her stories in audio.

Why I'm reading this: I've wanted to read this for a while and the nudge I needed is that the 21st Century group is reading it for January. Will also be a buddy read with my ...more
