I've read several of Louise Erdrich's books and loved everyone of them. Love Medicine doesn't rate a love sadly. While it is described as a novel it is really one of inter-related short stories. While some novels done in this fashion one can follow the thread quite easily, this one while following the thread the reader trips several times.
I personally would have liked to have had a family chart somewhere which I could follow.
