I'm adding this to the list of my favorite kid's books. It's the same age level as Little House on the Prairie, which I hear it compared to. Some call it a companion to that series because it's from the point of view of an indigenous family at the same time. I wished there would have been stories about their interactions with the white families moving west, but there are still more books in the series, so maybe that will come. This has been compared to the Little House books, and I think that is apt. The feel is very similar, but this is told from the perspective of a Native American girl, which is a welcome change.
