I just finished re-reading this one, and got much more out of it this time around. So much of it isn't about the romance (which in my opinion leaves much to be desired), but rather about character. Each of the characters has some level of religiosity, or lack thereof, and Jane's interactions with them all show how much is external nonsense and how much is true heart of moral character and of true compassion toward others. OMG! The first ten chapters were amazing, describing her upbringing and beginnings! I was so furious on Jane's behalf that I yelled in annoyance when Brocklehurst attempted to out her. After that, it was only a matter of time before she met Mr. Rochester. I never thought I would approve of them so strongly. They are my favourite OTP!
