What Members Thought

This was a good, solid book with, what may be, the most beautiful cover of the year. I listened to it on audio and even at a higher speed, it took a long time to finish. Maybe I would feel differently if I'd read it, but it just seemed too long and repetitive in parts.
I did like the narration, especially when the native tribal language was spoken, which had a beautiful rhythmic quality.

Fantastic read. Would have been an easier read for me if I hadn’t read on a kindle—I wonder what this is like as a performed audiobook? Do those exist? It would have been fantastic to experience the leelee not as a word but as itself.
Impressed with the author. I’m looking forward to her future books. I also can’t wait to read more about the Ojibwe community as I continue to widen my horizons.

This story really sucked me in. It does a great job of showing all angles, the good and the bad. It's really realistic. I love the main character. I felt so sad for her sometimes and so inspired by her most of the time. ...more
