Girl, Woman, Other is told through the eyes and lives of 12 women, girls, and others, most of whom are Black, many of whom are lesbians or bisexual (some homophobic), most from a large, loose network of friends. Each of the 12 has a chapter of their own, some wandering through other chapters (especially Amma and Yazz), but most showing up at the after-party to Amma's play, The Last Amazon of Dahomey.

I am not sure where to start with this masterpiece. It is so brilliant in so many aspects: the stories, the syntax, the details, the structure, the ending, the cover!
The author writes about eleven women and one non-binary person who move in the UK as black people. We get a glimpse of the past, present and future from the perspective of different generations. Not only is the structure very unusual but her lack for punctuation makes you stop and reread the paragraphs a few more times.
