4 stars. Wow, when people say Baldwin's words are magic, they aren't lying. These essays are my first introduction to Baldwin, and while I didn't fully understood all the topics he addressed, I definitely felt the power of his words. The copy of my book is now full with underlined sentences.

Surprising no one, this book remains relevant.

Bonus points: the prose is gorgeous, the audio book narration is wonderful, and the book itself is so short that even non-readers can start and finish it within a day without a sense of burnout. Read it.
