An important, depressing, and slow book about efforts fighting the death penalty. I started the book in 2020, abandoned it because the pandemic was depressing enough, and restarted it this spring for a book club. Even with the impetus of the book club discussion, it still took me probably 2 months to read this. I so admire the work Bryan Stevenson and his group are doing, but it wasn’t a book I wanted to read.

This was fascinating, horrifying, and heartbreaking. Hearing all the people who were let down by the justice system is awful and I hope people like Bryan Stevenson will right all the wrongs that others commit.
