First I tried to read the book in Spanish in Colombia. I thought it would help me understand the country's most famous author and their past once. I couldn't do it; to be honest, it was just made me fall asleep every time I tried to read. I switched English and I spent almost a month trying to get through this book. It's not a love story. It's a painful story and one that is so antiquated that it couldn't really speak to me in any way.
