The author does a great job at covering a lot of tough topics: illegal immigrants, rape, abusive parent(s), losing a parent, escalation of violence, being gay, wealth, losing a child, miscarrying, extreme religions and so much more!

4.5 stars. This was a great sequel to Burned. I didn't love it as much, but it felt like a complete arc to the story and I loved the experience of having closure for Pattyn. Review to come.

Love Ellen Hopkins!!

I love books that are written in verse and Ellen Hopkins is one of my favourites. Her topics that she covers are deep and real and sometimes really hard to read.
This book hit a little too close to home for me with a similar thing happening within my church and the whole brushing everything under the rug.
This book could definitely be a trigger book if you have some issues with assault and such in your past. It is important that this subject matter is discussed and brought i ...more
