This is one of the best #YA fiction reads of 2018. Character development is flawless and the world building is second to none.

3.5/5

This book is written from the perspective of three different characters - Zelie, Amari, and Inan. Amari and Inan are siblings and are the children of the kingdom’s king (Saran) and queen. Take 1 part Hunger Games, add 1 part Divergent, sprinkle a dash of magic, shake well, and dump out in West Africa.

This one is hard to rate because it IS good... it's engrossing and well written. BUT.... I've already read it several times in other YA dystopian trilogies.
