I think this book is definitely worth reading. It's important history. It's not what I was expecting though. It's a detailed non-fiction account. The movie previews made me feel excited so I was expecting that feeling from the book. This book doesn't have that personal connection feel that I think the movie probably does. (I haven't watched it yet, but I cannot wait.)

I really, really wanted to like this book. I love learning about historical facts and events when the book is well-written. I did not enjoy reading this book. It had too many technical facts and it was quite repetitive. I had to take a break from it when I was more than halfway through and realized that it wasn't getting any better. I still hoped the ending would be better. It wasn't. I do not recommend this book. The two stars are for the facts that I learned, but for that I also could have goo ...more

I had a blast reading, Hidden Figures, especially after watching the movie and loving it. As I read the book I marveled over all the hard work that each woman did no matter the costs or challenges they faced. Katherine Johnson was able to secure her future by being a math whiz and pushing aside the segregation at Langley (NASA). Mary Jackson worked hard to make her mark as an engineer and Dorthy Vaughan taught them all to make their place in the world with numbers. These women and more stood aga
