This is normally the type of book that I don't get on with. One long stream of consciousness chapter with magical realism and confusion.
But this book was different. Perhaps the short length, the conversational style or the high suspense tone. Whatever it was, I was hooked. I devoured it in two chunks with a heavy sense of dread which made it hard to look away.
