What Members Thought

I was so intensely into this book.
Ecclesiastes Chapter 1, verse 4 - One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh, but the earth abideth forever.

I read The Round House, shortly after it won a National Book Award. While it is the second in a loose trilogy, it stood well on its own. Earlier this month I read Plague of Doves, the first, in preparation for reading LaRose, the third, which hadn't yet been released (but has now been). I appreciated Plague, but the structure of Round House – a single coherent, although complex story, with one narrator set in a particular time – made it a much more enjoyable read.

I'll give it like 3.75 stars. I liked the concept and the Native American folklore stories, though their deliverance was weird. I didn't like the number of characters (I was confused by who was who the whole time) and the abrupt, copout ending. Also, everyone treated Joe like an actual adult rather than a 13 year old and that was really weird to me.
