As a story, The Kite Runner starts a bit slow. I wasn't engaged as a reader until eighty to a hundred pages in. This is one of the best books that I have ever read in my entire life. This book moved fast and kept me interesting. I did not know very much about Afghani history before I read this but I think this book helped me get a better grasp on the country. You really feel like you know and care about the characters.
